Midwest Elite Basketball Satellite Camp FAQ

I  am a high school coach and want to bring in Midwest Elite Basketball to work with my program this summer, what is the next step?

It is as simple as sending us an email or giving us a call.  Most of the time, high school coaches have additional questions such as asking about required camp numbers and inquiring about open dates.  We will answer your questions and find available dates that work well for your program.

What time of day can the camp be held at our school?
We conduct the camp at whatever time works best for you and your athletes.  We just need five consecutive hours for each day of camp.  We have started camps as early as 5:30 in the morning and as late as 6:00 pm.  A majority of our camps run from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm but we have no preference.  Our staff of college coaches will accommodate you and your program.

How does Midwest Elite Basketball cater the camp to my specific program?
We send you a pre-camp questionnaire which asks a ton of "program-specific" questions.  We then develop the camp curriculum based on your answers.  If you typically full-front in the post then we design a station specifically to teach this.  If you need to work on team-rebounding, then we make sure the camp is loaded with progression drills that will help your athletes become a better rebounding team.  Whether your athletes need help on their perimeter shot, ball-handling, or transition offense/defense, we will help them specifically on their needs based on your answers on the pre-camp questionnaire.  This has made our camp incredibly successful over the past 6+ years and is the reason why we provide the best in off-season development!

As a high school coach bringing in Midwest Elite Basketball, who can I all invite to attend the camp?  Can I bring in 7th-12th grade athletes, 8th-12th grade, or should I keep the camp only high school athletes?
Our staff of college coaches is VERY GOOD at keeping the camp environment focused and competitive with a wide range of talents and abilities.  Most smaller schools elect to invite some or all of their junior high athletes while larger enrollment schools often times only invite their 8th-12th or 9th-12th grade athletes.  We leave the invitation process SOLELY up to you.

Can we combine boys and girls in the camp?
The simple answer, no.  Combining genders does not promote an environment conducive to learning at the highest level possible.  At many schools, however, we run two sessions, a girls session and a boys session over the same set of days.  Typically one camp runs from 7:30 am - 12:30 pm and the second camp runs from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm (those times can be adjusted to accommodate each program).

Is there a deposit or up-front payment required for the camp?
We require a $50 deposit to hold the camp dates.  We do not require registrations or payments to be sent in advance.  We make this process as simple as possible.

Can I always get whatever camp dates I want?
We work incredibly hard to accommodate your date requests.  The earlier you inquire about dates, the better chance the date is still available.  We will not overbook because we refused to compromise the quality of our product.  Our 3-day camps are scheduled in blocks of M-W or Th-Sat (with some exceptions around Memorial Day and the 4th of July).  Our 2-day and 1-day camps can be scheduled nearly anytime.  We ask that you have a few date options when you email/call us.  June fills up the fastest and we will conduct a maximum of 120 camps this summer so email/call early.

Is your entire staff college coaches?
Our staff consists primarily of current college coaches though some of our staff are former college coaches, we have a professional coach on staff, and we have a few college players who are team captains at their respective school.  The quality of our staff is second to none.  Take a look at our coaches’ page to view some of the 45+ college coaches who work for Midwest Elite Basketball.

What is your typical camper/coach ratio?
Our average camper to coach ratio is 7:1 though many camps have 5:1 or 6:1.  Just like we do not want our campers standing around at camp, we also do not want our coaches standing around.  This is why we don't overstaff.  Camps that boast an incredible low camper to coach ratio are not hiring quality staff.

What is the average number of campers at each camp? What is the maximum?
Over the past six summers, the average number of campers at each camp is 20.  We have conducted camps with over 70 campers as well.  There is no maximum as long as your facilities can accommodate the camp.  We will staff according to the number of campers attending.  No matter if there are 16 campers, 25, 50, or close to 100, every camp is conducted with a great deal of personal instruction, progression and advancement.  Our college coaches call each athlete by name; they are not a number!  We do the little things correct and this is a big reason for our success!

We want to bring in Midwest Elite Basketball to our school to run a 3-day camp and we can guarantee a large number of athletes will be in attendance.  Can we get a discounted rate?
We are willing to work with programs that are bringing in a large number of athletes.  While a 3-day camp only costs your athletes $8/hour to begin with, we may be able to help out even more.  For instance, if you can guarantee 40 campers will be in attendance, we can cut the price from $120/camper to $110/camper.  This would save your program $400.  Please inquire about high number camps and what deals we can do for you!

I am a high school basketball player and I want to attend a Midwest Elite Basketball camp in my area.  Can I attend a camp if it isn't at my high school?
Our camps are almost always private (i.e. we work only with the team that brings us in).  This allows our camps to be catered specifically to the program we are working with.  If you want to work with multiple college coaches this summer, in your gym, then show your high school coach our website and have him contact us so we can setup a camp at your school.
