Midwest Elite Basketball Coach Craig Doty
Craig Doty is in his first season as an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Riverland Community College (Austin, MN) in 2011-2012. Doty’s coaching experience includes stops as an Assistant at the 2-year and 4-year college level and a year as a Head Coach at the high school level and a stint as Interim Head Men's Basketball Coach at the D1 Junior College level. Doty’s primary responsibilities at Riverland CC include recruiting, game preparation, scouting, and player development.
 
In 2010-2011 at Central Wyoming College, Doty helped lead the Rustlers to a 17-15 record and the school’s first Region IX Tournament victory since 1991. Doty also helped move three players to the 4-year level including All-Region performer Bojan Mihajlovic who was the first NCAA Division 1 (University of Texas-Arlington) signee from CWC since 1986. Following the season, Doty was named Interim Head Men’s Basketball Coach. During his time running all aspects of the program, Doty signed 9 athletes to National Letters of Intent including major prospects Armani Flannigan (Rockford, IL) and Malachi Roberts (East Wenatchee, WA).
 
A native of Alcester, SD, Doty came to CWC after serving as an Assistant Coach at his Alma Mater Morningside College in Sioux City, IA. Doty’s primary duties for the Mustangs were player development and recruiting in the states of Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota. During Doty’s tenure as a player and a coach at Morningside College, the Mustangs had a 56-37 record, made the Sweet Sixteen of the NAIA DII National Tournament, held a National Ranking of #10 in the country, and won a Great Plain Athletic Conference Title.
 
After finishing his playing career, Doty spent one season as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Akron-Westfield High School in Akron, IA. At A-W, Doty's Westerners squad won their last four games of the season including the first game of the District Tournament. Doty’s team held a 3.4 team GPA and four of his players moved on to play college athletics.

Doty graduated from Morningside College with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in English and a minor in Business Administration. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Managerial Communications. Doty and his wife, Lisa, reside in Austin, MN with their three-year old son, Braylon.
